Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 July 2026
These terms govern use of Stroma (stromaapp.netlify.app), operated by [OPERATOR ENTITY, ABN — pending confirmation] ("Stroma", "we").
1. The service
Stroma is a faculty-management tool for Australian school teachers: timetables, teaching programs and delivery records, staffing, meetings, cover notes, compliance summaries, a units library, and AI-assisted generation of teaching resources and report comments. It is provided to teachers and schools — students may not hold accounts.
2. Accounts and eligibility
- You must be a teacher, school leader, or school staff member and sign in with an eligible account. You are responsible for activity under your sign-in.
- A Head Teacher who creates a faculty is responsible for who they invite and approve into it, and warrants they are authorised by their school to enter school data (including student names and marks) into the service.
- Executive (read-oriented) access may only be granted by a Head Teacher to a person genuinely holding that role at the school.
3. Plans and fees
- Trial period. Stroma is currently in trial. Access is provided free of charge to all users during the trial period. No fees are payable and no payment method is required.
- Paid tiers, inclusions and prices will be published on the pricing page before the trial period ends. Prices will be in AUD and exclude GST. We will give at least 30 days' notice before paid plans begin, so you can decide whether to continue.
- When paid plans are introduced, fees will be payable in advance via our nominated payment processor, and any refund terms will be set out on the pricing page — subject always to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which nothing in these terms excludes.
4. AI features and fair use
- AI features are metered by a monthly usage budget per faculty, sized per tier so genuine teaching use is never interrupted; the meter exists to prevent abuse. Unused budget doesn't roll over.
- AI outputs are generated by third-party models (Anthropic, Google) from the material you supply. You must review AI output before classroom or parent-facing use. AI output can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable; you (not Stroma) are responsible for what you distribute to students, parents or your school.
- No IP promise on AI output: we do not warrant that AI-generated content is original, non-infringing, or protectable by copyright. Under current Australian law, purely machine-generated content may have no copyright owner at all. To the extent we or our providers hold any rights in AI output generated for you, we license it to you on the same terms as Library Content (clause 6).
- Don't use AI features to generate content unrelated to teaching, or to attempt to extract other users' data or the underlying models.
5. Your data (school data)
- You own your data. Faculty and school data entered into Stroma (including student roster names and marks) belongs to the school/teacher that entered it. We use it only to provide the service, per our Privacy Policy and (for schools) the Data Processing Terms.
- You are responsible for having the right to enter the data you enter — in particular, teachers must be authorised by their school to record student information in a third-party tool.
- Prohibited data: do not enter student medical, diagnosis, wellbeing or disability records about identifiable students; do not upload HSC illness/misadventure documentation (the product stores status and a link to your school's own storage by design); do not enter data about students beyond what the features require (names, pronouns, marks).
- You can export your data at any time. On termination, data handling follows the Data Retention & Deletion Policy.
6. Content licences
(a) Stroma Library Content (the built-in units, lessons, handouts, decks and other materials we author): we grant each subscribing faculty a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use, adapt and print Library Content for teaching within the subscribing school for the subscription term (and to retain copies already distributed to students). You must not redistribute, publish, sell, or share Library Content (or adaptations of it) outside your school, including on resource-sharing platforms. Attribution notices (e.g. ACARA attribution on exports) must not be removed.
(b) Curriculum content: Australian Curriculum content included in the service is © ACARA, used under CC BY 4.0 with the prescribed attribution carried on relevant exports; that licence, not clause 6(a), governs the curriculum text itself. State syllabus content appears only where and when licensed.
(c) Your content: you keep all rights in programs, units and resources you author or import. You grant us the limited licence needed to host, process and display them to your faculty (and, where you use AI features, to transmit relevant text to our AI providers to fulfil your request).
7. Acceptable use
No: attempting to access another school's or faculty's data; probing or circumventing security rules; reselling or timesharing the service; scraping the built-in content library; using the service to store data of students or staff beyond its designed fields; unlawful, infringing or harmful content. We may suspend accounts that endanger other users' data, with notice where practicable.
8. Availability and support
The service is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis appropriate to its scale. We may modify features with reasonable notice of material reductions. Support is by email at hello@stroma.com.au; we aim to respond within 1 business day.
9. Consumer guarantees and liability
- Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.
- Where we are permitted to limit liability for breach of a non-excludable guarantee, our liability is limited (at our election) to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of re-supply.
- Subject to the above: (a) neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss; (b) our total aggregate liability under these terms is capped at the fees paid by you in the 12 months before the event.
- You remain responsible for educational judgments: Stroma is a records and drafting tool, and is not the authoritative educational record — schools must retain their own official records (e.g. HSC documentation on school systems) per their obligations.
10. Term, suspension, termination
Subscriptions renew until cancelled (cancel any time; paid term runs out its period). We may terminate for material breach unremedied after 14 days' notice, or immediately for serious security abuse. Clauses 5, 6, 9 and 11 survive termination.
11. General
Governing law: New South Wales, Australia. We may update these terms with 30 days' notice for material changes (continued use after notice is acceptance; if you don't accept, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for the unexpired period). Notices to hello@stroma.com.au and your account email. No assignment without consent, except we may assign to a corporate successor.
